Mary Alice Litzelman, age 91, well known resident of Dushore, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 06, 2013at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA

Mary was born in Dushore on March 20, 1921 a daughter of the late Vincent Joseph Lynch and Emma Cook. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1939.

Mary married J. Bernard Litzelman on September 14, 1946 after he returned home from the Army serving in WWII. Bernie predeceased her on August 19, 2011.

Mary and Bernie began operating her father Vincent Lynch’s luncheonette which they renamed Litzelman’s. It was located at the red light in Dushore. They operated their store until about 1966 when Bernie began working as a clerk in the Dushore Post Office. Mary and Bernie and Joe and Ann also operated the concession stand at the World End State Park for several years. Mary worked at the Ben Franklin store in Dushore for many years. She and Bernie also volunteered at the PA Bowhunter’s Festival since it began over 50 years ago.

Mary was an active member of St. Basil’s Church, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and a member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion Auxiliary.

Three grandchildren:
Scott (Christine Ng) Litzelman, Marie Litzelman and Jennifer Litzelman, a great granddaughter Cora Ming Litzelman and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her son, Joseph William Litzelman on February 26, 2012, and her daughter Mary Ann Litzelman in January, 1950, and her brother Joseph Cook Lynch, on June 26, 2004.



A Transferal Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding.

Friends may call on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. and from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home by members of I.H.M. Altar and Rosary Society.
