Sue was born on August 18, 1950, in Meshoppen, PA, the second child of Frank and Marilyn Fiske Carr Sr. of Wilmot Township. She lived her entire life on the family farm. Sue graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School in the class of 1968 and from Mansfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1972. She married Jay L. Stanton of Wyalusing on June 10th, 1972 at the Wyalusing Methodist Church; they had just celebrated their 40th anniversary this past summer. She and Jay had two children, Jason Michael Stanton and Kelly Sue Rocchi. Jason and his wife Joanne “Jennings” Stanton and their six children: Nicholas, Lillian, Joseph, Joshua, Elijah, and Elizabeth, reside in Herrickville, PA. Daughter Kelly and her husband Michael Rocchi live in Allentown, PA with their twin seven month old children, Cameron and Allie. Sue is also survived by her parents Frank and Marilyn Carr Sr., of Wilmot Twp., PA, who have been married for 64 years, and four siblings; Bonnie William) Keeney of LeRaysville, PA Rick (Katie) Carr of Wilmot, PA, Bill (Carol) Carr of Wilmot, PA , Frank (Connie) Carr Jr. of Wilmot, PA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews. Sue was a dedicated teacher in the Wyalusing Area School District, having taught second grade for thirty six years. During this time it is safe to say that she touched many hundreds of lives. She was always one of the first to arrive each school day and the last to leave. Sue was very involved in her community having participated in many charity events such as Relay for Life and the Outstanding Young Women program. In her spare time she enjoyed line dancing with friends, flower gardening, and exercising. She had participated in several 5K races. During her brief retirement she put in a swimming pool which she cared for so many family and friends could come and enjoy. Sue was diagnosed with cancer in early 2012. She put up a courageous and dignified battle, trying to maintain as much normalcy as possible despite the treatments. She spent a large amount of time with her daughter and the new grandbabies in Allentown, only recently coming back to her home in Wilmot. It was from there that she passed on to a better place. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 10:30 AM at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA, with the Pastor C. Kenneth Crain, associate pastor of Windham Summit Bible Church, Rome, PA, presiding. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M...
