DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net February 23, 2012 Michael Fedorchak, age 89, well known Lopez resident passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Gate House in Williamsport, PA with his loving family at his side after a brief illness. Mike was born in Lopez, PA on October 2, 1922 a son of the late Steve & Melania Moskva Fedorchak. Mike entered the Army in 1940 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He is one of the last Pearl Harbor survivors in Sullivan County. He continued to serve in the Pacific until he was discharged in 1945. After the War Mike returned home and married the former Alice Kososki of Mildred, PA on February 8, 1947. Mike worked on construction for most of his life for Welliver Construction and George Mingus he worked on large projects like the Sullivan County High School, Guthrie Clinic in Sayre and the power plant in Washingtonville, PA. In retirement Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially walking. Mike was a member of SS: Peter & Paul’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Lopez, PA. Surviving: Spouse: Alice at home Two daughters: Carole (David) Underwood Melbourne, FL Michaeline Mowery Montoursville, PA Five grandchildren: Melanie Weser, Nicholas Fedorchak, Tommy Van Dyke, Kari Spinosa and Christopher Mowery; four great grandchildren: Madlyn Weser, Lydia Spinosa, Lizabeth Spinosa and Armon Spinosa and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Philip and his wife Mi Yun Lee who were killed in an earthquake in Turkey on August 16, 1999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred with the Rev. Michael S. McCormick, officiating. Friends may call on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review on Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
