A. Virginia Sperlazzo

A. Virginia Hood Sperlazzo, age 75, of Terrytown, Pa passed away Tuesday morning, February 7, 2012, at her home, with her loving family at her side.

Virginia was born on March 26, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late James and Mary Rubino Hood. She met and married Dominick Sperlazzo of Brooklyn, NY on October 3, 1953 in St. Paul’s Church, Brooklyn, NY. Dominick predeceased her in 1991. They moved to Terrytown in 1971, where she devoted her life studying her faith and raising her four children.

She loved spending time with her family, crafts, sewing, and making the best red sauce in the world. Her family was her life and she will be dearly missed by all.

Virginia was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Wyalusing, PA.

A Transferal Service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 9:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Wyalusing Cemetery, Wyalusing, PA.

Friends may call on Wednesday, February 8, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., and on Thursday, February 9, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Endless Mountains Pregnancy Care Center, 13 State St., Towanda, PA 18848.
