Dick was born in Forksville, PA on October 6, 1925 a son of the late Chester F. and Ada Yonkin Gleockler. He graduated from the Elkland Township Vocational High School, Estella, PA a member of the class of 1942. He served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war he graduated from Bloomsburg College in 1950 and earned his MA from Bucknell University in 1954. Dick married the former Alice May Schweinebraten of Meadowlands, PA on August 25, 1951. Alice predeceased him on February 8, 1995. Dick taught Science at the Loyalsock Joint High School, Estella, and later was assistant principal at the Estella High School. He then went to the Wyalusing High School. He was the supervising principal at the North Potter Jointure and was the principal at the Sayre High School. He became a professor at the West Chester College, West Chester, PA from which he retired in 1982. He was a member of the Forksville United Methodist Church, Sonestown Post #601, Lewisville Lodge # 556 F. &A.M. Ulysses, PA and a member and past president of the Eagles Mere Country Club. He was predeceased by two brothers, Chester E. Gleockler on October 25, 2000 and Leon C. “Babe” Gleockler on April 1, 2008. Relatives and friends are invited to a reception in his memory which will be held on Sunday, January 29th, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Eagles Mere Country Club, Eagles Mere, PA.
