OBITUARY
December 15, 2011
Peter P. Bien, age 79, of Laceyville, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at his home with his loving family at his side.
Peter was born in New York City, NY, on October 27, 1932, son of the late Woijeck and Stella Mazur Bien. His family moved to Frenchtown, NJ where they operated a farm when he was an infant. He graduated from Frenchtown High School in the class of 1951. Shortly after school he enlisted in the United States Army, where he was involved with the missile program, being stationed in Germany for a few years, then to Wayne, NJ. After getting out he joined the Army Reserves 78th Training Division, from which he retired as Top Sergeant. He met his wife to be the former Kathleen Burns, in the Choir at St John’s Cathedral, in Paterson, NJ in 1962; they were married on June 22, 1963, and had just recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. While in the Reserves he worker for Ortho Diagnostics as a boiler room operator, and taught evening classes at the Bridgewater VOTECH School in the evenings. He retired to Laceyville, PA in 1992.
Peter was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his Springer spaniel travel companions Woody and Clancy. He was an avid bowler being a member in several bowling leagues.

Numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by a daughter: Sharon Bien on May, 19, 2003, as well as three brothers; Walter, Stanley, and John, and two sisters; Anna Boyd and Helen Webb.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA, at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, presiding.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday before the service.
The family will provide the flowers and requests that Memorial Contributions be sent to the Bradford County Humane Society, PO Box 179, Ulster, PA 18850.
