Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 28, in the Wyalusing United Methodist Church where Met brought so much music over the years as both youth and adult choir director and as an accomplished singer. She shared her musical talents with the Wyalusing community in various community musical productions and as a long-time member of the Choraliers. She was a woman of many and varied interests, including working with young people and following sports, but her greatest loves were church, music, and family. She started the Junior Choir at her church in 1954 and was active in the adult choir, after stepping down as director, until a few months ago. She ran junior music clubs, was an active member of the Wyalusing Musical Society, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved working with children and bringing music into their lives, influencing generations of children in the church junior choir, as well as assisting with the choreography for several Wyalusing Valley High School musicals. She always had a front seat in the high school’s spring musicals held in the auditorium named after her late husband, Kenneth S. Williams, who was high school principal for 26 years. In her later years, Met enjoyed being a grandparent volunteer at the Wyalusing Elementary School. She was employed for several years at Tuscarora Wayne Mutual Insurance Company. She grew up in Wilkes-Barre, PA, where she was born on Jan. 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Cecil and Irene Slivinske. Her mother was an accomplished pianist who accompanied Met and her sister Liva while they tap-danced and sang in local USO promotions during World War II. On July 1, 1946 she married Kenneth S. Williams and several years later they moved to Wyalusing, PA to raise their family. Met and Ken enjoyed a close and devoted marriage for more than 55 years until his death. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as their greatest fan, no matter what their endeavors. Aside from her husband, Kenneth, she was pre-deceased by two brothers, Glenn and Al Slivinske, and two sons-in-law, Craig Manney and David Dibble. Still surviving members from her generation are her sister, Liva Slivinske, and two sisters-in-law, Joan Kopek and Blanche Williams. Met Williams is survived by a large and loving family of sons and daughters; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, and eight great-grandchildren. Her surviving children are: daughter, Kerry Dibble; son, Craig Williams and wife, Scottie; daughter, Laurie Manney, and son, Steve Williams, and wife, Barbara. Her grandchildren, their spouses and children are: Heather and Wayne Riddle; Ben and Amy Dibble and children Lila, Jonah and Maggie; Kassie and Brian D’onofrio and son, Cooper; Jessica and Brian Walters; Abby Williams and Mark Crean; Josh and Gwen Manney and their son, Caleb; Tim Manney; Becca Manney; Katie and Bill Garber and their children, Evan and Lindsay, and Kenny and Rhonda Williams and daughter, Maddy. Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church. There was a visitation on Sunday, Nov. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home in Wyalusing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Wyalusing United Methodist Church (PO Box 155, Wyalusing, PA 18853) in the memory of Met Williams.
