P. DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net November 22, 2011 OBITUARY Helen Irene Piasecki Bly passed very peacefully from this life on the wings of a Butterfly into the hands of the Lord to rejoin her husband Lee, her beloved parents, her sisters, and brothers on November 22, 2011. We are sure the first thing they did was a Polka to welcome her home with a toot of the horn from dad. Helen was born in Mildred, PA, February 28, 1925 a daughter of the late Teresa Dyndur and Leo Piasecki. She graduated from Cherry Township High School, a member of the class of 1943. She went to Elmira during the war where she worked for Thatcher Glass and the Eclipse Company. She married the Love of her life Lee Bly on June 21, 1947 a loving union lasting 58 years until his passing in 2006. Helen will be remembered as a devoted, loving, generous, and caring daughter, wife, and sister. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mentor to her children. She truly enjoyed spending time with them, always interested in their lives, always a smile. She shared their accomplishments with such great pride and was always there when they needed her. She made time to talk with them, even the youngest ones. How can we ever forget Polka music every Sunday morning, pink stuff, brown rice, and her potato salad. Helen was an accomplished Polka dancer. She and Lee shared a special love for the Polka. They traveled all over the Northeast to various Polka dances. They enjoyed and taught Polka dancing for many years in the Horseheads and Heights area. One of her treasured memories was the trip she made to Poland with Lee. She was so happy to return to her parent’s homeland. She was also proud to visit Ellis Island and walk where her parents first walked when they entered this Country. It was so important for her to pass on her Polish heritage to her family. She did so lovingly and with great pride. Helen is survived by her four devoted children: James (Mary Lou) Bly, Robert (Mary Anne) Bly, Mitzi (Philip) Barrett, and Lorraine Bly. She leaves her 8 cherished grandchildren; Michael, Joseph, and James Bly, Kelly Harrison, Timothy Bly, Christopher, Alicia and Tawnie Smith and 2 step grandchildren; Joshua and Lucas Allen. Helen also leaves 9 adored great grandchildren. Her family was her legacy of Love. One brother survives Helen; Stanley (Rose) Piasecki, and one sister in law who was more like a sister to Helen, Joyce Piasecki. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her heart and her dear friend Beverly Michalko. Helen was predeceased by her beloved Lee, her parents, her siblings; Stephen Piasecki, Cecelia Edmunds, Mary Rush and John Piasecki. She was a member of St. Mary Our Mother Church, the White Eagle Black Madonna Choir, and the Soaring Polka Association. A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday November 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St, Dushore, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Joseph R.
