Rita Ann Stoddard

Rita Ann Gainer Stoddard, age 76, of Sugar Run, Pa passed away Monday morning, September 12, 2011, at the Towanda Memorial Hospital, with her loving family at her side.

Rita was born on June 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary O’Neill Gainer. She graduated from St. Basil’s High School, in the class of 1953. After school Rita worked at the Mildred post office, and then later worked in a cafeteria. She met and married William R. Stoddard of Sugar Run on February 27, 1963. They resided on the family farm in Sugar Run, where she devoted her life to raising her seven children and helping around the farm. Rita really enjoyed working in her garden and canning.

She loved spending time with her family, especially going on family camping trips and other functions. Her family was her life and she will be dearly missed by all.

Rita was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Wyalusing, PA.

Great-grandchildren:
Bella, Xavier, Ryleigh, Layla, Trey, with two more expected soon.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Ronald Stoddard on November 19, 1991, and Randy Stoddard on June 30, 2011.

A Transferal Service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 9:30 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Stowell, PA.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 14, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA.
