Cory, 76, went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2011, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, with his family by his side. Dewitt was born on December 15, 1934, in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Issac and Lucy Hancock Cory. He was a lifetime resident of Wyalusing. He married the former Anna Capwell on May 14, 1983. They just celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. Dewitt worked on the farm with his father at their home. He had also worked for Jake Trowbridge in the woods, for the PA Highway for a time, the Laceyville Charcoal Plant, Benscoter Forest Products, and many of the local dress factories. Dewitt enjoyed his involvement with Meals on Wheels, delivering for them until he was no longer able. Dewitt was a member of the Calvary Church, of Wyalusing, PA. He enjoyed farming, especially planting potatoes. He loved the outdoors and liked working around the house. He was predeceased by mother-in-law; Olive Clark Capwell Holcomb, father-in-law; Raymond Capwell, sister-in–law; Shirley Carpenter, brother-in-law; Charles Capwell, and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at the Calvary Chapel on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 6 P.M., with his Pastor John McAndrew, officiating.
