David Switzer, Jr., beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, passed away peacefully at Casa de la Luz in Tucson, AZ, on August 2, 2011 at 72. A lifelong summer resident of Eagles Mere, he and his wife, Martha, retired to Eagles Mere in 2002. David took great joy in serving the Eagles Mere-Laporte Community in a variety of capacities. His family would like to thank the community for its support and prayers during this difficult time. David was predeceased by his parents Walter D. Switzer, Sr. and Jean Sheffer Switzer. He is survived by his wife Martha, his sisters Susan (Gary) Simpkins and Ann (Don) Johns, seven nephews and nieces and six grand nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: The Carol “Joanne” Smith Acquisition & Preservation Fund of the Eagles Mere Museum, PO Box 440, Eagles Mere, PA 17731. David was a quiet gentle man who did not want to be eulogized. Honoring his wishes, his family is planning a special tribute on Saturday, September 10th. The family of David Switzer would like to thank the Eagles Mere-Laporte Community for its support and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of a memorial service, you are invited to a musical tribute to David on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 7 PM at the Beach in Eagles Mere (if rain, the alternate site is the Eagles Mere Community Hall on Laporte Avenue). Please bring your beach chairs/towels/blankets AND flashlights so that you can be part of a special musical program by Terry Wild and Friends. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P.
