Mr. John Patson, age 91, of Lopez, PA passed away Saturday, July 09, 2011 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA with his loving family at his side.
John was born in Lopez, PA on October 5, 1919 a son of the late Theodore & Theresa Homik Patson. He entered the Army in February of 1942 and served during WWII with the 703rd Tank Destroyer Battalion in the Ardennes, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and Normandy. He returned home in September of 1945 and married the former Josephine Anna Andrewlavage on July 27, 1946. She predeceased him in January 15, 1985.
John worked on construction after the War and then for the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Manufacturing Co. in Mildred and later for Dolly Madison in Dushore. After the Creamery closed he worked for Carl Weed in Mildred, until he was employed by Penn Dot from which he retired.
He planted a very large garden which he maintained until he was 90. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing cards with his family and friends.
John was a member of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church, Lopez, PA, and McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA.

7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Paul Patson, Mike Patson, Peter Patson and sisters: Mary Gavlick and Elizabeth Patson.
Burial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA with Hieromonk Michael Thier, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Lopez, PA.
Friends may call on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. where there will be a Parastas Service at 7:30 P.M.
The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to Mildred Ambulance Association, PO Box 74, Mildred, PA 18632.
Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 7:00 P.M on Monday evening at the funeral home.
