Meehan, age 91, of Overton, PA, formerly of Levittown, PA, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA. Martin was born in Andalusia, PA on January 26, 1920, son of the late Martin J. & Sarah Darrah Meehan. He married Beatrice H. Fries, of Andalusia, PA May 9, 1942. They were married 68 years. Beatrice predeceased him on November 17, 2010. Martin joined the US Navy and served during WWII. He was an aircraft mechanic and later worked for RCA in New Jersey. His principal job was working on weather satellites. He and Bea lived in Levittown in Bucks County until retiring to Sullivan County in 1999. In retirement Marty was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, especially enjoying small game season. He also maintained a vegetable garden and was an accomplished woodworker. Martin was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. Surviving: Three daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Herbert Hausmann Richmond, VA Barbara and Jon Briggs Prince George, VA Judith and Pierce Crompton Stuart, FL Grandson and fiancé: Geoffrey Hausmann and Sarah Chase Minneapolis, MN He was predeceased by a grandson Erik Martin Hausmann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Overton, PA. The family will provide the flowers and request that memorial contributions be directed to the Highlands Care Center, PO Box 10, Laporte, PA 18626.
