Mooney, age 81, of Glen Mills and Eagles Mere, PA died on April 24, 2011 (Easter Sunday) in Glen Mills. Gene was born Dec 8th, 1929 in Philadelphia, son of the late Walter and Catherine Mooney. He graduated from LaSalle high school and also attended the Wharton School of Business. He served in the military in Korea. He worked for Atlantic Richfield in Philadelphia as a manager in the oil packaging plant and as a payroll specialist. He retired in 1983 but kept very active with other jobs and charitable works. He met his wife of fifty-four years, Mary A. Reeser Mooney of Eagles Mere in 1952. She predeceased him on December 14, 2009. They moved to Norwood, PA and eventually Glenolden, PA, where they raised their five children until they relocated to Eagles Mere over a decade ago. Surviving are children: John J. (Ellen) Mooney, Sharon L. (Dan) Glennon, Michael M. (Donna) Mooney, Jim (Christine) Mooney, and Thomas Mooney; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Walter Mooney, Robert Mooney. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania at St Francis of Assisi Chapel, Eagles Mere, PA, at 10 A.M. with Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the Eagles Mere Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P.
