OBITUARY
Margaret Hochberg Scanlin, age 74, of Overton, Bradford County, PA passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.
Margaret was born May 11, 1936 in Cherry Township, daughter of the late James H. & Agnes E. Poye Hochberg. She graduated from the Loyalsock Area High School, a member of the class of 1954. She married D. Joseph Scanlin Jr., of Forks Township on November 22, 1958 and he predeceased her on February 9, 1997. Joe and Margaret were very proud to be 4th generation farmers and to be able to keep the farm in the family, where it remains to the present day.
Margaret was a member of St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Dushore, PA and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a loving mother and grandmother and especially loved being with her grandsons. She was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed bird watching and feeding her humming birds and cardinals and very much enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She was also an accomplished cook and baker and especially pie making.

4 grandchildren; Trey and Matthew Decker, Vincent and Alex Baumunk.
Several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by sisters Mary Hochberg in 1936, Genevieve Potter of Towanda, PA, Dec. 20, 1999, Loretta Ferguson, of Linden, PA on July 15, 2010 and brothers, Robert Hochberg of Berkshire, NY on May 15, 2001 and John Hochberg of Dushore, on June 1, 2008.
A Transfer Service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 9:30 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Overton, PA.
Friends may call on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home.
Members of IHM Altar and Rosary Society are asked to assemble at 6:30 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home to recite the Rosary.
