DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net January 21, 2011 Obituary Mr. Larry Lee Kiess Jr. age 36, of Dushore, PA, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Saturday evening, January 22, 2011 at Jeanes Hospital, Philadelphia, PA after a courageous second fight with Leukemia. Larry was born on July 5, 1974 the son of Larry & Kimberly Meyer Kiess Sr. of Muncy Valley. He graduated from the Sullivan County High School a member of the Class of 1992. He attended Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. He began working with his cousins Gene Kiess and George Jordan and also worked for Tom Kitchen. Then began working for HRI Inc. for four years and currently was an employee of the Proctor & Gamble Paper Products in Mehoopany where he has worked for the past 11 years. Larry was a devoted husband and father and took pride in his family. Larry had numerous close friends both inside and outside of work and touched many lives in the community by giving so unselfishly of his time and knowledge. Larry was very active with the Sullivan County High School. Not only coaching and cheering on his daughter Alexis through various sports but helping to assist the varsity boy’s basketball and baseball teams. He also coached AYSO for many years. He was the fiercely competitive Captain of Team NUTZ which he formed in 2001. Team NUTZ not only continuously won many of the Dushore Founder’s Day Races but also kept the crowd entertained each year with their themed outhouse and costumes to match! Larry loved playing softball and was a member of many teams\leagues over the past years. Larry was in the process of restoring his 51 Chevy “Ardie”. Larry was an avid hunter and belonged to the Hawks Club on North Mountain and also the North Mountain Sportsman Association He has many friends and close family that will love and miss him dearly. Surviving, are his wife the former Jennifer L. Murray at home and a daughter, Alexis Louise at home; his parents Larry & Kimberly Kiess of Muncy Valley; his sister Katlyn Kiess; his two nieces Tyler Murray and Kenzie Tunnicliff; his grandparents: Maternal grandfather, Roy (Carol) Meyer of Mildred, Paternal Grandfather George Kiess Jr. of Hughesville, PA Paternal Grandmother, Vivian Kiess of Linglestown, PA, and several aunts and uncles; great aunts and uncle; cousins; parent in laws; and sisters and brother in laws. Larry was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marie Kiess and maternal grandmother Gloria Meyer and by uncles Wayne Kiess, Brady Hartman and aunt Sherry Kiess. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 28th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, pastor, presiding. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 26th and Thursday January 27th from 5:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the P.
