Wettlaufer Sr., age 85, of Dushore, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 10, 2011 with his loving family at his side. George was born in Kellysburg, PA on May 16, 1925, the son of the George and Alice Almeda Smith Wettlaufer. George was a Gunner’s mate second class in the US Navy, (1943 – 1946) He received the following medals: American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, World War II Victory, and Philippine Liberation. He married the former Hazel Henry of Kellysburg, PA, on November 14, 1945; they just celebrated their 65th anniversary. George was a lifetime logger. He spent his life working in the woods with his two sons, George and Dennis, and also cherished being able to work with his grandsons in the logging business. He enjoyed the annual fishing trip with his family to Canada. He was an avid hunter and quite a storyteller. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of the American Legion Post #452. He was predeceased by three sisters: Nellie Folk, Violet Pace, and Flossie Bennett, a brother William (Billy) Wettlaufer, and a grandson; BJ Guglielmi. A Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will provide the flowers and request that donations be made to the Dushore Ambulance Association, PO Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P.
