DEAN HOMER FUNERAL HOME 206 WATER STREET PO BOX 1 DUSHORE, PA 18614 TEL 570 928-8163 FAX 570 928-8116 Email pdh@epix.net OBITUARY Anna Waldron, age 92, well known resident of Lopez, PA passed away on Thursday, January 06, 2011 at the Gatehouse of the Divine Providence Hospital with her loving family at her side. Anna was born on October 22, 1918 – one of seven children of the late Michael & Katherine Kopach Sulick of Lopez, PA. She graduated from New Albany High School as a member of the class of 1936. Anna work for a short time at the former Weldon Mfg. Co. of Lopez, and married Leonard P. Waldron of Dushore, PA on October 18, 1941. They were married 49th years; Len predeceased her on October 20, 1990. Anna was very active in both her Lopez community and the Sullivan County community. She was honored by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce as the Citizen of the Year in 2005, and both Ann and Len were honored as Lopez Citizens of the Year in 1978. Ann served as the Lopez weather reporter and commentator for the Sullivan Review and in a similar capacity for WNEP Channel 16. She was always an avid contributor to activities such as Lopez Old Home Day and to groups such as the Lopez Civic Association and the Sullivan County Child Welfare Board. She was very involved with the Sullivan County Historical Society where she was a board member for many years - her proudest contribution there being her donation – and the Society’s relocation – of Ann’s father’s antique butcher shop (1919) from Lopez to the Sullivan County Museum in 2006. She was also a former member of the Lopez School Board, and she served for many years as a 4-H Club Leader. Anna was a very active member of SS: Peter and Paul’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Lopez and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred, PA and was a member of St. Basil’s & St. Francis Altar & Rosary Society. Ann was deeply devoted to her family and took great joy in preserving the family and ethnic traditions. Surviving members are: Daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Ron Calaman Dushore, PA 4 Grandchildren: Gregory & Kerry Calaman Mahwah, NJ Kristie Calaman Perryville, MD Mary Beth & Todd Russell Covington, LA Leonard Calaman Dushore, PA 6 Great grandchildren: Margaret Mary Russell Erin Russell Anthony Russell Hannah Calaman Caleb Calaman Gabriel Calaman Numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Margaret Waldron on September 20, 1964 and by siblings: John Sulick, Michael Sulick, Mary Bewersdorf, Catherine Chape, Irene Michalek, and Peter (Pat) Sulick. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Michael S. McCormick, pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canton, presiding. Interment will be in SS: Peter & Paul’s Cemetery, Lopez, PA Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 9th from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. There will be a recitation of the rosary at 3:00 P.M. by member of the Altar & Rosary Society. The family will provide the flowers and request that Memorial contribution be sent to the Charity of one’s choice.
